earth hour yesterday was hilarious...
some places turned off their facade lights.. some didn't give a
shit... like OCBC and DBS..
some were late.. The Sail turned off their facade lights about
50 minutes late.. then turned them on about 30 minutes later...
the band at the esplanade park was an hour late too... but they
played okay.. the band should shut up and play.. their "banter" was
cringe-inducing
Yesterday at Orchard some volunteers were giving out candles to
mark Earth Day..... essentially, switch off the lights and use
candles instead.....
Anyway, I can't help but think that while all these campaigns
are nice and good, there's really no point in getting people to
switch off their lights for one measly hour while they continue to
blast the aircon at the same time.
The Live Earth concerts were the most stupid thing anyone could
think of to promote environmentalism. Who would go to a concert to
learn about saving the environment?
And surely flying in all the artistes and their entourage would
belch a lot more carbon dioxide into the air than if there had been
no concert at all? And what about all the waste generated by the
concertgoers?
